Zippity Zip

This week is going by so fast! On Monday Lincoln and I inadvertently matched. I didn’t see him until we were at school and then I saw him and laughed!

Tuesday was Nana’s birthday. She is recovering well and we wished her a happy day!

Home MTC is hard. There’s a lot of boring time for Ethan. I will be glad when he gets to go and really start. I do like having him here but there comes a day when every little piggie has to leave their momma and build their own house. He’s well prepared to build a house of bricks and is anxious to get on it.

Jenna and Clayton got back from their trip and they had the best trip ever! I’m very glad.
Tuesday night the YW brought cookies they had made and we put together plates and took them to some ward members. It was a nice activity and we got several thank you texts.

Wednesday night was the band’s special parent preview show. We are having a cold spell and the night air was chilly but it was so so fun to go out and see everyone and to hear the band!

Also Wednesday mom had cataract surgery and she said it went well.

Sadly we got news that Charmela’s mom Carmen passed away. She had been in the hospital for 3 weeks fighting Covid. Charmela is Anna’s best friend. She even lived with our family their senior year because her family moved down below and she wanted to finish high school before she moved.  We all love Charmela and are so sad for her loss.

At work we are having a gift exchange next week. I got Taylor. She has chickens so I made this cute little hen for her. I am going to make a second one and put them in a bag with whatever else I end up getting.

Tomorrow is Friday! Yay!!

Sunday

Rob picked me up from the airport yesterday and we drove to Costco then home. I ended up staying up past midnight and thought to myself well I can nap and/or go to bed early tomorrow.

My flights were good. I have had a flying miracle. As we all remember a long time ago I became irrationally afraid of flying. I would do it but it was miserable. So miserable that I would feel sick and even one time went to the ER before a flight thinking I was having a heart attack or something. I would be scared the whole time and even nervous the day before. I had a couple blessings (and some medication) and that helped but it still wasn’t great. Then one day I was fervently praying before a flight and I had an experience. It was peaceful and sweet and I felt like God was lifting my burden and comforting me. I flew and it was fine and I was very very grateful. Well since then flying has been okay. I still get a little nervous but I just remind myself to choose faith over fear. I have to purposely choose and then my flights go well, turbulence and all. I think this is a miracle and I am grateful for a loving God who cares about my silly concerns.

So back to the sleep story. Turns out nope. I got up early(ish) for ward council. After I cleaned because we were having company. We went to church and had RS on zoom. Julie Hinton is our teacher and she does an amazing job! I have loved both her lessons. Then we cleaned a little more, then Bub and I watched Anastasia. We cooked dinner. The Gooches and Garrett (Rob’s new employee) and his girlfriend came over for dinner. We had a fun visit. They left around 8 we walked the dogs (Kraytos and Ziva are being babysat by us), came home and cleaned up and then E asked would I watch Atlantis with him so I did.
Now it’s 11 and not only did I not catch up on sleep I ran the deficit down too:(
It was a good day however.
In other news it looks like Jenna and Clayton are having the best vacation and lots of adventures so I am very happy for them.

Also favorite quote of the day: sometimes we expect million dollar answers to our ten cent prayers.

We need to be invested in our prayer life.

This and that

I’m at DFW on a layover. Sierra drove me to the airport early this morning. I have some time so I thought I’d jot down some final thoughts about my trip.
First off I am grateful I got to go. There is nothing I love more than doing something for the people I love and babysitting for Jenna and Clayton is at the top of the list💕

When I was little we spent a lot of time at my grandmother’s house in San Francisco. I was blessed to know and love my Deda and two Babas. One thing I often remember is laying in bed at night after the day was done. Alec and I slept in beds in Baba Olya’s room and later Michael joined us. The lights from the cars driving past on the road would cast streams across the ceiling. We would whisper and talk, often I would tell him stories. Downstairs we could hear the voices of the adults drifting up as they talked and laughed late into the night. This was some comforting and sweet.
Each night this week as we’d tuck Cora and Ruby into their cribs I would think of them listening to the people they love downstairs as we talked and it reminded me of my childhood days. I hope they felt as happy and cared for.

They did not go to sleep easily. Last night they were laughing and talking until 10. They were tossing a Minnie Mouse back and forth between their cribs and we could hear their cute conversations as we watched Elf a floor below.

It was so fun to hear them talk all week, to play with them, to read books, and supervise baths. We did the potty dance a lot as each girl had successful trips to the bathroom, we watched some Clifford and Llama Llama. We colored a lot, went on walks, played with the nesting dolls and spent a lot of time coaxing them to eat.

You have to watch twins carefully. They can, for sure, make more than twice the mischief. Baby wipes were employed more than once as tiny hands had to scrub up toothpaste that was painted onto the cabinets in the bathroom, mascara from the tile and toilet, food flung from the table and a few other messes. They were always happy and willing to clean up though.

Everyone was smitten with Ezra. He is the sweetest baby. He hardly cries and has the biggest smile! The girls loved him, the Brandt’s loved him, everyone thought he was adorable. He was so good everywhere we went which was so nice.
I loved hanging out with Hannah all week. We had lots of time to talk while we cooked, cleaned and watched babies! She has accomplished so much in life already and is full of wisdom and compassion beyond her years. She is a great little mommy too which makes me so happy!

I loved having Dani and Greg and kids come over every day. Last night they came over for a movie night and then D and the kids slept over so she could be there when the girls woke up. That Dani is an amazing mom and such a good auntie and sister and daughter. I love being friends with my adult children.

Sierra came over every day too. I was so glad she did. Sometimes when I travel to Utah she’s busy and we only see her a few times but she came every day and helped with the kids and joined us for meals and hung out and talked. It was really nice. I love that girl and her selfless heart. I am wondering what will happen with her and Chris. He is a really great guy, and I would be delighted to see them happily married (said Mrs Bennett)

Jenna and Clayton FaceTimed each night. They are having a great time and great adventures. It makes me want to go to Costa Rica!

Bub is working hard at a hard MTC experience. I imagine Moroni had his share of boredom and feeling alone in his service. Home MTC had a lot of boring down time and I am sure Ethan feels isolated and alone. (And the thousands of other home MTC missionaries) I think the Lord will bless them extra.

Grace went to a party last night for Lettie. The Evans have been driving her home each day and they’ve kept her a few times. I am so glad for friends who step in and mother when I am gone. Grace has lots of great friends, and she is a great friend.

I loved seeing Val every day. My hope is one day we live in the Spanish Fork area and these kinds of weeks are the norm instead of a rare treat.

When I went to pick Marshall up from school Penny had play practice but she ran over and gave me a hug and said HiMimi! before she ran off to her practice. High light!

On soup night Tatum walked in the kitchen and said what can I do to help. I assigned her cookies and she did it herself. It was fun to have her in the kitchen with the hens. She is getting so grown up. I love that girl!

Cora and Ruby wrapped their little arms around me neck often and had a little snuggle. I love the way they’d smile and yell Mimi! when I came in their room and the way they argued over “she’s my Mimi”, “no she’s my Mimi”. They did the same thing for every toy, favorite song, seat at the house, etc. I am honored to be on the list:)

I loved seeing Marshall wrestle and watching how great he is with babies and how fast he can run around the whole house! Also he is great at mental math and so cute. He’s saving up money for a game he wants and knows just how much he needs and how much he has.

It was a great week. The only thing that would have been better is if Rob and the other kids were there too.

And I am so glad it didn’t snow!
And I got my Utah Christmas shopping done and wrapped so I am half way there which is good.

Soup night

We had a little photo shoot this afternoon. I loved the pictures we got. Honestly could we have more adorable grandchildren?
This morning Dani and Marshall came over. During the girls naps I did some Christmas shopping. I am way behind!
We had a soup night. The girls and I made Zupa Tuscano, carrot soup and Hungarian Mushroom soup. We also made chocolate chip cookies and had ice cream sandwiches for dessert. Val brought bread and everything was delicious!

It’s been really fun to have Val and Ryan come over each night and to spend a little time together.

Family is everything and I am so grateful for all the times I get to spend with them. Rob asked me if I wanted to come back and of course I do. That’s the thing, I always get to miss someone but I guess that just means I have a lot of people to love.

Dani gave haircuts after dinner. Hannah’s looks so fresh and smart!
Tate’s is really an adorable length. She is getting so grown up!

Aquarium

Wednesday Hannah and I took the three babies to the aquarium. It may be my favorite one, it’s very beautifully done and it has some awesome animals. It was pretty empty so we had an easy time keeping track of everyone and seeing everything we wanted to see.
The girls loved it! They watched the penguins for 20 minutes and exclaimed over everything they saw. It was so so cute.
This Ezra boy is the perfect baby. He hardly ever cries and is so cute and cuddly. The girls love him  and are so gentle and sweet.

After the aquarium we went home and the girls napped in the car. This led to a grumpy afternoon but we all survived!

In the evening I got to go watch Marshall’s wrestling meet. It was super cute to see all the little kindergartners out there. Marshall did well and pinned his opponent on his first match and he got lots of take downs.
His stance!
Hannah had never been to Tanner’s gravesite so we went in the later afternoon. I still can’t believe he is gone.

Lastly Chris came over and spent some time. He’s funny and hardworking and kind. Of course I don’t know what will happen but it seems like they are pretty fond of each other.

Cookies

Tuesday was a great day. We went to Walmart and bought cookie making ingredients. Marshall was such an amazing helper and chief twin wrangler. Thank goodness Dani had her Covid tester shift and I got to have him to help me.
When I picked up Marshall from school Penny was waiting outside for her ride to play practice. It was so fun to have her run up and give me a hug! I loved it! I got to pick up each of the kids from their activities and that was a lot of fun!
We made and decorated a lot of sugar cookies. It was messy and fun.  Today we took a plate to Pam and Arie (Ryan’s mom and sister who live across the street from Jenna).
In the evening Dani brought over her sweet potato tacos and we had dinner together. Val and Ryan have come over each night to visit. And  Chris (Sierra’s boyfriend) who just got
home from elk hunting came over, it was nice to meet him
too.
